Native bees, including bumble bees, are easily the most recognizable genera of bees and their fuzzy appearance and docile temperament make them a back yard favorite. Bumble bee and solitary bee nesting habits make them unique and therefore vulnerable to habitat loss. As well, misdirected fear of wasps, aggressive behavior and damage to buildings can lead to the destruction of nests and a resulting decline in species numbers.
